"I lived a dangerous and reckless life from a very young age. I was lost, living in sin, and heading down a path that could have easily cost me my life. But even in the darkness, God had a plan for me.
The Lord blessed me with a God-fearing mother who planted a seed of faith in my heart when I was just a child. She taught me about Jesus and instilled a foundation of faith in me that, although buried beneath years of bad decisions and a life of sin, never truly disappeared. Little did I know that the seed she planted would be the very thing God would use to save my life 23 years later.
I found myself incarcerated, sitting in a two-man prison cell, reading the Bible. I remember reading the Book of James when, suddenly, something happened that I will never forget. An overwhelming sense of peace came over me. It was unlike anything I had ever experienced.
In that moment, I heard a still, quiet voice speak to my heart: "I am your Lord and Savior, and I am real."
There was no mistaking what I had just experienced. It was a divine awakening. God met me right there, in one of the darkest places of my life, and reminded me that He had never forgotten about me. At that very moment, I surrendered and rededicated my life to Jesus Christ. That encounter changed my life forever.
Has my walk with Christ been perfect since then? Absolutely not. I've stumbled, fallen short, and had seasons when I took steps backward. But through it all, one thing has remained constant: God has never left me, and I know He never will.
Looking back, I can see His hand on my life even when I was running in the opposite direction. That seed of faith my mother planted all those years ago was still alive, waiting for the moment God would bring it to life.
My testimony is proof that no one is too lost, no past is too dark, and no prison walls are thick enough to keep out the love and grace of Jesus Christ. If God can reach me where I was, He can reach anyone.
All glory to God. Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior, yesterday, today, and forever."
